At-Home Spa with Shiatsu Foot Massaging Slippers
Every once in a while, a girl needs to take care of herself – I mean take good care of herself. A great way to do this is to treat yourself to an at-home spa treatment. I finally had some quiet time recently to do just that.
My spa morning consisted of the usual spa elements: a facial, a hot bubble bath, aromatherapy candles, smooth jazz, a pedicure, and even a shiatsu massage.
I started out by running myself a nice, hot-tub bubble bath. The tub was pretty large, so I had plenty of time to for my Japanese Tuchifumazu-kun massaging slippers to do their magic. These slippers were great for multitasking – imagine that – getting a massage, all the while I’m applying a mud facial, deep conditioning my hair, and lighting the aromatherapy candles! These slippers actually give you the equivalent of a shiatsu foot massage – all while walking.
The slippers are shaped like small feet with little toes and are worn strapped to your feet. So, my first attempt at putting them on was a little uncomfortable. The little toes are used to separate your own toes. Also, there’s also no heel to the slipper. So that means that the back part ends at the arch of the foot. I hadn’t expected my first steps to be so awkward while I worked out my balance and endured twangs of pain in my arch and toes. The discomfort soon subsided once I gotten the hang of walking. Eventually, I realized that the twangs of pain I felt was actually the deep massage. After about 20 minutes into my spa day routine, my feet had what felt like a real shiatsu massage. After I finished my luxuriant bubble bath, walking around on flat ground felt great. My feet felt refreshed and relaxed. In fact, I felt great all over.
I plan on wearing these slippers every morning to get my circulation going and, little by little, to improve my balance and posture. And who knows? I might not need my morning cup of coffee anymore.
